RCS on Tour – Nantong
Our first-ever “RCS On Tour” has been a great success!
Our journey took us to the city of Nantong, where we enjoyed around 24 wonderful hours filled with learning, new experiences, culture and—most importantly—Happy Rotary Fellowship.
🌍 Travelling Together
The idea of “RCS On Tour” is to bring our members and friends together outside Shanghai—to discover new places, share meaningful experiences and get to know one another better.
Our first tour showed us how much friendship, engagement and joy can be created when we travel together as one Rotary family.
🏭 High-Tech Learning at Starlim
A very big and heartfelt thank-you to our RCS member Markus Berger for opening the doors of his company, Starlim, and welcoming us to his impressive factory in Nantong.
We had the wonderful opportunity to learn about the fascinating, high-tech world of liquid silicone injection moulding. We experienced how innovative design, advanced technology, sustainability, precision and the highest standards of quality come together in modern production.
🏗️ Learning About the Passive House
Many thanks also to our member Sofia, the architect of the Starlim factory in Nantong. Sofia shared with us how she designed and developed the factory according to the principles of a passive house.
It was very inspiring to learn how intelligent architecture, energy efficiency and sustainability can be successfully integrated into a modern industrial building.
🥂 Happy Rotary Fellowship
After our factory visit, we enjoyed a delicious Korean barbecue dinner and a very engaging RCS Fellowship together.
We continued our happy evening at a local Nantong bar beside the small river—sharing stories, laughter and friendship in the true spirit of Rotary.
🏛️ Discovering Nantong’s History
On Saturday morning, we visited the Nantong Museum and learned more about the remarkable history and development of the city.
A very special learning was the inspiring legacy of Zhang Jian, who brought industry, education, culture and charity together to improve society. By around 1920, this integrated approach had helped Nantong develop an impressive educational and charitable system—an early example of creating lasting impact for the whole community.
🚗 Returning Home with Wonderful Memories
After a delicious Fellowship Lunch, we began our journey back to Shanghai—happy, inspired and carrying many wonderful memories with us.
The first RCS On Tour to Nantong and the Starlim factory was a truly meaningful success: a wonderful combination of learning, new experiences, fellowship, culture and friendship. Most importantly, our members and friends had the opportunity to get to know one another better.
