RCS Santas visit Shanghai Children’s Medical Center
On Saturday, December 9, a group of Rotary Club Shanghai members and friends joined forces with the Volunteers from 人生大不同 and with Snowland Art representative Tenzin and Choeyang who came over from very far remote Gansu to join the activity.
We did our best to bring a smile and some gifts to 200 children at the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center in Pudong. We were so excited especially as we were finally allowed in after the stop Covid imposed on us in the past years.
Furthermore, we had the opportunity to visit some of the kids in their rooms and, despite their difficult health conditions, many of them greeted the volunteers. Several children and parents surprised us, wishing us “Merry Christmas”. Some of them could leave their beds and come to play with Santas* and the elves.
It has been a touching experience, and we received much more than we gave.
*Yes, you read it right, “Santas”, plural. We have been blessed by the presence of not one but two Santa Claus!
