Saying “Good-Bye” and Farewell Events are an unpleasant reality of a global city like Shanghai. And members of RCS as well move on. Nevertheless, we keep in touch:
Rita and I left Shanghai on June 28, 2018 and for next one year have been in Delhi busy settling down at our family home to give company to Rita’s parents. Our daughter and grandson also live in Delhi and we enjoy spending time with them every week. First thing I did was to join the prestigious Rotary club of Delhi South of 50 years vintage to get into a group of 100 plus wonderful fellow Rotarians and their spouses. I was inducted as member on Aug 1 2018. Attaching two pictures of that day. I am quite active in club and will serve as Club President for 20-21. Our district 3011 is quite big with 86 clubs.
Businesswise I continue to coach a few CEOs and business owners in ways to apply Theory of constraint methods to significantly improve their businesses. I also continue to spend time learning about History of India and the world. My Golf clubs are still on shelf for some more time till I correct muscles of my back that has been continuously improving over past one year. I do hope to restart playing in a couple of months.
I continue to cherish memories of Shanghai Club where I spent 12 years. The best thing I liked there was the diversity of members’ nationality and the vegetarian Indian food I was served as a special ‘guest’ every week by Marriott staff. The warmth of fellow Rotarians at RCS is unforgettable.
Congratulations to all members of RCS for celebrating ‘100th year’ anniversary in October. Rita and I send our love and best wishes to all members and spouses. I do hope that some day soon Rotary would be freely expanding in China to serve the communities with greater vigor and building friendships and long-lasting goodwill.
Warm regard
Pradeep Kumar
